Crowning of the King of Banjar Kalimantan Culture; National Consolidation in the Field of Culture

Selasa, 13 Mei 2025 | 22:20 WIB

In his coronation oath, Sultan Cevi Yusuf Isnendar affirmed his loyalty to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, submitting to the constitution of the 1945 Constitution and the national philosophy of Pancasila, and respecting and obeying the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia as the Patron of Nusantara Culture by assisting the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in preserving and advancing regional arts of Kalimantan within the framework of Nusantara Culture.

Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Fadli Zon advised Sultan Cevi Yusuf Isnendar as the King of Banjar Kalimantan Culture to have a key role in advancing Banjar culture in Kalimantan. This coronation is his duty as mandated in the constitution of the 1945 Constitution Article 32 Paragraph 1 which reads:

"The state advances Indonesian national culture amidst world civilization by guaranteeing the freedom of society to maintain and develop its cultural values."

Assistant for General Administration of the Regional Secretariat of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Ahmad Bagiawan, representing the Governor of South Kalimantan H. Muhidin, emphasized that this coronation strengthens cultural identity and strengthens solidarity between the Banjar 'bubuhan' (diaspora), as well as the preservation of Banjar Culture.

The coronation of Sultan Cevi Yusuf Isnendar as the King of Banjar Kalimantan Culture is part of the correction of national restoration and consolidation in the field of culture, including the correction of history, amidst the rampant obfuscation of the history of the Indonesian Nation.

One example is the case of the lineage of Prince Diponegoro who was claimed to have the surname Bin Yahya by some descendants of Yemen. At the same time, other descendants of Yemen claimed that Prince Diponegoro had the surname Baabud.

Sociologist and Islamic historian Abdurrahman bin Khaldun strongly opposed the falsification of history, especially the writing of history with illogical sources and full of mystical myths. In his book Al 'Ibar, Ibn Khaldun wrote about the dangers of falsifying history, starting from the addition of false information with hyperbolic language:

"People who have no right to interfere with history have inserted gossip and false stories into these history books as a refreshing spice. This action was followed by people who came after them. Then, they passed on the information to us as they had heard it."

National consolidation in the field of culture will be a correction to the restoration of Indonesian history, as a provision towards a glorious Golden Indonesia 2045, which was initiated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
