ٍSENAYANPOST - Indonesian General (Ret.) AM Hendropriyono again pointed out that several countries already have a 4th branch of the Armed Forces.
“We know that several countries have created four branches of their armed forces. Not only do they have an army, navy, and air force, but there is the cyber force with its own chief of staff. So now there is a 4th branch of soldiers," said Hendropriyono
That former Head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) conveyed this after attending a talk on the book Dreaming About Indonesia written by Budiman Tanuredjo, Vice General Director of the Kompas daily newspaper at Bentara Budaya, Palmerah, a few days ago.
Hendropriyono previously provided information to the Senayan Post that Singapore already had a 4th branch of the armed forces.
This 4th branch is the cyber force, which has its own chief of staff like the existing branches of the armed forces.
This philosopher of intelligence explained that the war that is before our eyes is psychological warfare, with the battlefield on the internet and in cyberspace.
Hendropriyono further explained that this cyber war cannot be handled only by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) or BIN.
This 4th branch, which has been formed in a number of countries, have a different structure from the agency in Indonesia.
The difference is, this 4th branch has a command structure. Meanwhile, the organizations in Indonesia that handle cyber warfare are staff organizations.
"The cyber warfare force is specifically for war, and is staffed with 90 percent civilians, namely selected hackers," said Hendropriyono.
Meanwhile, intelligence agencies in Indonesia generally deal with other aspects such as economics and politics.
Hendropriyono also said that Indonesia should be aware that the current era has changed, and this should not be met with inaction.
Moreover, the development of artificial intelligence technology makes it increasingly difficult to distinguish between hoaxes and authentic material.
