SENAYANPOST - The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran asked the press in Indonesia to be honest in reporting developments in the conditions of Palestine, and not to imitate the media affiliated with the Zionists-Israel who distort the facts by calling the Palestinian people the oppressors and Israel the oppressed.
This message was conveyed at an iftar event together at his official residence in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta on Monday, March 24, 2025 to commemorate International Al Quds Day.
"Our mandate is to protect public opinion, do not let the oppressed position be replaced by an oppressive position. Of course, media affiliated with the imperialist system will call the Israeli genocide self-defense," he said.
Western media always have contradictions and double standards in reporting. If there are Muslims who are victims of violence, it is reported normally. If there are US citizens or Israeli citizens who become victims, it is reported as if there is a large-scale human rights violation.
"We must continue to strive to ensure that injustice against Muslims is not considered normal. If US or Israeli citizens are killed, it is considered extraordinary," he said.
The Iranian Ambassador regretted that a number of mass media called Hamas an Iranian proxy, even though the Iranian government greatly respects Hamas and other Palestinian political elements as fighters defending their homeland.
"One of the things we heard was that resistance groups like Hamas were called proxies. This is disrespectful to them. This is the narrative of the Zionist regime. They stand for the purpose of defending their homeland. We support them, not them being under and ordered by Iran," he explained.
As the constitution of the Republic of Indonesia states the involvement of the Indonesian government in world order based on independence, eternal peace and social justice, the Iranian constitution also requires the Iranian government's foreign policy to help oppressed Muslims.
"We support Palestine together with Indonesia. Indonesia fights for the oppressed," he added.
The Iranian Ambassador expressed his pride in being assigned to serve in Indonesia, because the Indonesian Government and the Indonesian people together with Islamic mass organizations support the struggle for Palestinian independence.
"I am very happy to be assigned to Indonesia which stands for the truth in supporting Palestine. This brings Indonesia and Iran closer. I appreciate the government, Islamic mass organizations supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian Nation," he concluded
International Al Quds Day is an idea of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Imam Khumaini RA, which is held every last Friday in the holy month of Ramadan every year, as a form of prayer and solidarity for the Palestinian people. (Muqoddas)
