SENAYANPOST - The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI), Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC), and Indikator Politik released the results of a survey on Indonesian public attitudes regarding the US and Israeli attacks on Iran on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Of the 1,066 respondents, 60.1% disagreed, 23.0% strongly disagreed, 4.5% did not answer/didn't know, only 4.7% agreed, only 0.2% strongly agreed, and 7.4% were in between.

This opinion is based on the view that 49.1% of respondents disagreed with the statement that Jews will continue to be hostile to Islam, as stated in Samuel Huntington's theory of the clash of civilizations. 9.6% strongly disagreed.

Meanwhile, only 21.8% of respondents agreed, 6.2% strongly agreed, 10.0% answered either agree or disagree, and 3.3% either didn't know or didn't answer.

This view was confirmed by the 44.4% of respondents who disagreed with the view that the current territory of Israel is the homeland promised by God to the Jewish people. This was further confirmed by the 9.3% of respondents who strongly disagreed. Only 16.4% of respondents agreed, 5.1% strongly agreed, 16.1% either agreed or disagreed, and 8.7% either didn't answer or didn't know.

This demonstrates that the Indonesian public is able to distinguish between Judaism as a religion and a nation of descent, and the State of Israel, which is an implementation of Zionist ideology.

"There are actually very few who believe the view that Jews are hostile to Islam, because we know that many Muslims know that Jews are not Israelis. This is good news: our society has a complex mindset; they are anti-Israel but not anti-Jewish," explained Prof. Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Ph.D., founder and principal researcher of Indikator Politik, who was appointed to present the survey results from the three survey institutions.

Furthermore, this demonstrates that the Indonesian nation upholds peace and rejects the theory of a clash of civilizations and religions.

"Fundamentally, the Indonesian nation is harmonious and does not want to be pitted against each other," he concluded.
