SENAYANPOST - The world of social media this week has been shocked by video reels on social media; TikTok showing a photo of Professor of Intelligence Philosophy Prof. Dr. General TNI (ret.) Abdullah Mahmud Hendropriyono, with a voice that turned out not to be his voice.
In the video that went viral on TikTok, the uploader shared a voice recording that claimed AM Hendropriyono was discussing the condition of Indonesia. However, the recording turned out to be the result of an engineered simulation or simulacra. This was confirmed directly by the retired member of the elite Kopassus TNI AD unit on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
"What is clear is that it is not true, because I was never asked about that and I was also never asked for permission to post my photo," he said as quoted from the Kilat Media YouTube channel.
According to the Professor of the Military Law College, the perpetrator's actions in impersonating someone's name on social media are very unethical.
"I was never asked for permission for myself to be posted like that with messages from the perpetrator. That is unethical and not right," he explained.
The former Head of the State Intelligence Agency reminded that Indonesia is indeed a democratic country where everyone is free to do anything. However, he asked the public not to use that freedom to do various things without a sense of responsibility.
"Because they feel that their country is a free country, a liberal country, then they forget the moral teachings of their parents," he concluded.
Simulacra is an imitation or representation that replaces reality, where the simulation and the results of the simulation become so real that the original reality becomes irrelevant or even disappears. Simulacra is often associated with the concept of hyperreality, which is a state where simulations become so real that we can no longer distinguish between the original and the imitation.
